Program Manager

We are looking for a Program Manager who can manage our Remote Tutoring and Mentoring Program (RTM) in Pacifica. Our RTM program connects middle school students and Bay Area scientists and engineers for weekly mentoring and tutoring sessions using a web-based, interactive whiteboard and audio connection.

 

Position: non-exempt hourly employment position (about 30-40 hours per week)

 

Required Skills, Experience and Abilities

  • A self-starter and works well in a small company environment
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
  • Experience (2-5 years) managing educated-based programs in either the non-profit or other sectors
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with various constituencies including, but not limited to, volunteers, professionals, community and school groups, parents, and business leaders
  • Strong time management skills with ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects
  • Organized - we generate a fair amount of electronic and physical media that must stay organized and quickly accessible
  • Computer Skills:
    • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Google Docs (spreadsheet and word processing)
    • Website editing: familiar with basic web authoring tools

Preferred Experience and Interests:

  • A passion for K-12 education
  • Knowledge of the local community (Pacific and Peninsula)
  • An appreciation for both the demands and rewards of community-level philanthropy
  • Comfortable learning new skills, such as video editing

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Mentor recruitment: research local firms that are a source of mentors; network with existing mentors to recruit more
  2. Mentor processing, and training: Assist in interviewing prospective mentors, running the mentor orientation meetings; ensure mentor background checks and contracts have been executed.
  3. RTM Program Coordination: Run the RTM pilot program (located in Pacifica) including:
    1. Setting up the school for the RTM program (computer setup, parent volunteer recruiting and training)
    2. Work with teachers and mentors to create RTM student schedule
    3. Updating the RTM website with weekly class materials
    4. Transferring and storing all RTM session video files
  4. Develop RTM training materials: edit RTM videos to incorporate teacher comments

Compensation: Depends on experience
